Who are the most famous geordies both past and present? Love him or hate one of the most famous has to be Dunston's famous Paul " GAZZA" Gascoigne. Any more for the list?

Sting from the police must be known world wide, and a better geordie ambassador than Gazza.

I cannot believe ANT and DEC have only just been mentioned..... these geordie lads should be flying the flag right at the top of the list.

Just had a quick search on this...didn't realise this one...Mr Bean, Rowan Atkinson was born in Newcastle.

Depends on how we define Geordie doesn't it - by birth, buy residence, by actions and accent or all. I'd probably say being born and spending at least a couple of years here qualifies you.

I read he was brought up in Hexham (still on the banks of the tyne) and that his family owned the Tyneside Cimema which is still there next to monument. And what about Bryan Ferry - a Jarrow lad and the there is Gordon Sumner (sting) from the police. I wonder of sting still has that flat next to the baltic on the quayside?

Well until Mike took over North East Tonight, Look North hammered it in the ratings. Mike was class, I met him at the old Look North studios in New Bridge St.

I never knew Ridley Scott was a Tyneside man. Blade Runner was a bit deep, but a classic. Gladiator...well that one speaks for itself. It is one of my all time favourites.
