Why doesn't the baltic flour mill dedicate a floor to local artists on a permanent basis, does most people agree that the art in their is on a different planet!? Good local art showing the history and future of tyneside should be dedictaed to a floor for all visitors and locals alike....

I shall tell you. All the directors chosen by the baltic trustees are not from the north east region. In the last 6 years we are now on our 4th. Can you believe the directors who normally run the artistic side of the business also control the business side ?!?

They should have a good artistic director , dedicate one floor to local artists which will give visitors an insight to our great heritage, and a business director to run shows, cafes, bars ect. Come on trustees sort it out.

I think the Baltic should be local free, thier should be another site opened up specificly for local artists, merit and merit alone for the prestigous baltic tahnk you very much. Not being snooty but practicable.

well most people who visit the baltic havnta clue about art anyway, so maybe one floor for local stuff would be good, save opening a brand new venue just for local artists anyway. - might get more locals in too. I actuallt do know people who have never been in it and they live within a few miles of the baltic...????!!!??

Some people reckon there locals and there not, theyre the first to leave. I actually know someone who upped sticks to sheffield and another who left for london. In fact the one in sheffield is now in valencia until bl<<dy October sometime! The worst though is someone I know who actually went to work for a sunderland connected employer!!!!!! never mind though they all come back in the end to their true roots!:)

On the note of the baltic, i think its great!

LOL now sometime i think people post stuff for the fun of it but really no geordie could be daft enough to have and idea to return to our great city and then leave it every day to work there. I know there is a unit in one of the hospitals in newcastle for people like that.

It's fabulous to see locals getting passionate about our local national art gallery. I completely agree that sometimes there are exhibitions on that people don't quite get or like. There will on ocassions be an exhibition at the Baltic that you will love.

For me I love the ANTONIO RIELLO exhibition, where he has all the guys who work at the baltic wearing some of his fantastic clothing designs. I wish I worked tehre as some of the stuff I have seen looks really exquisite !:)
