Best bars in Newcastle. In what sense? Music? Attractive people? Vibe? Ive been in the Apartment before but it was mid week and pretty quiet - it looked really nice inside though. I think I prefered it to Perdu along the road.

Without a doubt the city vaults in newcastle city centre is the best. Pre Match sing song in the vaults is superb.:)

Spot on Cheezer, the Bridge Hotel is a great pub with real beer and real people. Its like a olde worlde pub with loads of character and originality. You can still smell the smoke in the air. Not been in for a while but now ive benn reminded of it shall be going in again soon.
p.s the beehive hotel at the end of high bridge is a small decent paper, walked past it the other day at 11.02 am and it was packed full of guys drinking bitter !! love it!

Perdu is good, but the flower bar (ex- The Apartment) along the road has now surpassed it, loads of great fun with good music in there,--even saw Jonas Gutierrez who plays for newcastle in there partying on down with a few of his south american cronies - food enuff for the toon players - its good enuff for me:D

Post match in Sam Jacks is mint, great sing along and great women ;)
Perfect place to go after a geordie win at SJP.
The D&P has to be up there! for what it is, a cool little music bar, best rock and roll bar in town for me!
cheap drinks, always offering guestlists to the best indie nights, got a mint quiz on a wednesday, it has a mint atmosphere at weekends, and with the open fire, its certainly up there!

Great pub, not been in for a while tho.
I bet you didnt know this Sam!
Jimi Hendrix first gig in uk was at the Dog and Partridge when Chas Chandler brought him over.!!
Its a nice pub. Sometimes pop in after work, the staff are really friendly and I must admit it is one of the best pubs in Newcastle.
Its a traditional place with a modern hip feel to it. Theres not that many pubs keep to its traditional values for so long!

Depends what you like, what you go out for, what mood you are in etc etc.
It is the people that make the night and the music. Nice surroundings help, but I could talk to an interesting beautiful woman in a skip ha. My favourite, when I was a Weekend Town Warrior, was Liquid in Big Market. Then I evolved and now prefer the little Piano bar in The Gate, Aspers Casino and Beyond in The Gate. I also like going up Whickham - nice bars, packed and generally a good vibe / atmosphere.
I know an atmosphere is not a permanent thing lol, but when the people who go to the place a largely the same every week en masse, the vibe tends to remain the same and I don't care what anyone says, you can feel tension or happiness or love in a room if it is there. When the vibe is regularly fun and happiness, you want to go back.

I don't smoke, but I would try the bar. Haven't been to town much at all lately. Got sick of hangovers and spending fortunes. Now I have a little more left, but still have the hangover . May as well go and make night of it, only many of my friends have got children and things now, or children on the way, so it's not like it used to be. Once in a blue moon we get together

Tokyo bar - I will have to check it out. Where is it? I would assume the "posh" or "upmarket" bit between Central Station and Bigg Market.

It's on Westgate Road - the street down from the one you are talking about. I have been in and it's canny. Not my favourite place, however. Westgate road actually travels quite far and people associate it with being the bank where all the motorbike shops are. That's actually called Westgate Hill. Tokyo bar is near High Level Bridge, around the corner on the one-way system before Revolution Bar.
