Just thought Id remind evryone that if they wanna last visit up Gateshead Carpark (the old get carter site) then Tesco's are arranging for people to go up and look at the views of newcastle gateshead and the rest of tyneside. Its your last chance to go up it. The dates to go r 26 + 27 April 2008.

Jesus......the view might be good but the car park is awful. Why dont you just go to the top of the replacement building. The current Get Carter carpark has to be one of the ugliest buildings on tyneside. Only 2nd to that thing called the Dunston Rocket - architecture? Lets see more buildings like the Sage popping up. By the way Get Carter was rubbish to. It shows tyneside to be an area of depression.

LETS be honest i think that there is nothing going to happen here until the economy gets better and Tesco can afford to do the development it is after all there cash which is letting the council do its mucking about with the town centre:p

For me the "get carter" car park is an icon and although not the best looking building there is, it has a purpose and history about it. I wasn't happy about it getting brought down as it was a symbol of the area. Why couldn't they keep it and build around it. How will they build as many car parking spaces now? Where will everyone park?
I know it's too late now but sometimes we should stick with what we know.

What was iconic about a car park that within 5 years of being built was being neglected and that was costing five times the build cost to maintain each year.
If every car park that some one got chucked of was preserved we have the most car parks in the world.

I was at Tescos on Saturday and was chuffed to see the diggers the only disappointment was it wasn't being blown to smithereens.
The sad thing is that tesco is behind all this and i would rather have Shepherds back than them greed money grabbers dominating me town.
Boycott Tescos.

Wots Shepherds,
It was the shop that Tesco used to get into general retail and bought out Shepherds to get this whole thing going.
Changed the name and called it shopping city. From where i bought my first record but it was still crap compared to Sheppherds which i used to think was a massive shop and those rotters at Tesco demolished it to make a car park.

Haha When I was a kid me and me mates went in - and he nicked a handful of pens. We got chased all round Gateshead but never got caught. That was my only involvement in crime in my life at the age of 15. I spose weve all done something bad. lol
