By the way.. I bought a new car at the weekend, (vauxhall) and paid £8k for it and was offered gap insurance in the garage---has anyone had experience of it and is it worth 300 quid?

About this Gap Insurance--So your car is worth 8k today. If your car is written off in 2 years time you might get £5k losing £3k.
If you buy gap insurance though you will gain that £3k. So in effect after the cost of Gap you will get £2700 more than what you would have.
What are the chances of this happening I havent got the stats, but I do no that in all the years i have been driving ive never been unlucky with a written off car. Im no finance wizard but I have seen some companies online selling them cheaper. Maybe you should put the £300 on a 10-1 horse. I dunno!

There are loads of people on the web selling gap insurance - one of the is surfandprotect.com and another is click4gap.
Make sure you read the small print though. The business managers in car dealerships earn a tidy little profit through Gap Insurance so i imagine you would getter a better deal buying online.
Choose Wisely - There are differnt types of Gap Insurance though--not entirely sure of them all - ask the experts what each type can do.

I've noted that GAP have never been able to keep a store in Newcastle or Gateshead for very long and that we don't have one maybe they should have taken insurance against employing a crap buying department
very funny , but hasnt there been a gap shop in the metty centre for years now? Not that i care much as i like a bit of style and those gap hoodies just dont do it for me!:)

My mate got his car written off last week and was faced with getting what he considered to be a worse car then when going through his stuff noted he had been given it when he bought the car.
What do you know he got 2800 extra to what he had been expecting.

BUt i lost my watch and wedding ring about a year ago and the insurance company gave me a card with money on it. Which expires next month so i wne tand bought a watch last week a very nice one but it doesn't replace the good stuff i lost which had sentiment attached to it also.
So whils the cost is a tw*t i would say that you should have cover for what you might need
