Although not a kick boxing champ myself i would say look for the best tution and recommened trainers. After all it is not the bricks and motor that teach you the techniques...i no they offer kickboxing classes at newcastle uni as one of my pals goes there (he's really good at it, i always try to be nice to him:))the link is http://www.societies.ncl.ac.uk/kickboxing/ Ive heard they offer skilled coaches and top equipment, try giving them a call.

Greeny,

thanks for the info.
i think i'll check a few clubs as i am new to the area...., just moved up from the steel city.

a lot of people i know went for the club who's instructor was a top fighter, but i think just because the coach was a top fighter it doesn't mean he can teach the techniques to all abilities...., sometimes an average fighter can make a top coach.

what do people think of that ?

Van Damme,
Personally, I dont think being the best in your sport makes you a good coach (just look at Alex Ferguson):) Its the ability to motivate, teach and to find a level with people.

Take a look at the class, and what the students are like. Many good fighters or martial artists find it hard to teach what they do. A good class will have good students.
