Ive seen a few pubs being mentioned on here, but not The Forth on Pink Lane near Central Station. When I was a kid my parents used to go in it, when they were in there 20's and 30's and still do now and again. And I bet you our kids will. Its a timeless bar and one of the best bars in the toon. Anyone else agree?

It is too crowded i mean i know the place is a decent pub but it is just a little to busy for being a bar where your supposed to be able to have a chat and a decent pint. You just can't here your self.

I think people go there as others will think they are thoughtful and sophisticated, bollocks its justr like every where in toon know.

I think its abit pretentious last time i was in i was stood next to a bunch of jounalists what worked for the Journal and Chron with plumbs in the mouths (not mine) talking as if they where marxists and believing their own hype as purveyors of the free world.

Ha ha ha - this is class. The irony of believing you are intelligent and sophisticated, even revolutionary, whilst drinking in a bar that you frequent because of its legacy as remaining unchanged an upper class venue. In reality The Forth has degenerated into a bar no different to any other, although it does seem to get a slightly better class of clientel. Misuse of Marxist theories and delusions of grandeur are still better than not knowing who Marx was or referring to grandeur as "a big word". You made me smile :-)
