kickboxing clubs in gateshead?

the kickboxing club(harragi kickboxing) that ive been going has just folded due to lack of numbers and the instructer running the club at a loss so sadly im looking for a new club, does anybody know of any decent clubs in gateshead? ive only been training for 6month so dont really want to join a gym where there are lots of egos and the experienced fighters look down on beginners.

any help is greatly appreciated.

If you follow this link you will see this club in Washington Galleries, I worked with a kid who went there and he started as a beginner and told me they gradually brought him on, no ego's ect. You can't learn anything if someone just batters you!

I dont know if it's too far away but it might be worth a visit. Where abouts was the club you were going to? It's such a shame that clubs like this close as they are great for the community , good value for money and probably better for you than a normal gym!

the club i was going too was based in birtley and chester-le-street, its was a brilliant club, no ego's, just a good mixed group of lads and lasses. Wayne, the instructer was spot on aswell and the odd time his instructer, ingolf, would come down and take the session.

only started going kickboxing as i was doing six days a week in the gym, running, weights etc and fancied a change, then once a few things started to click i got hooked, so hopefully i can find another club as i dont want to pack in and end up going back to six days a week in the gym!!!

Really good class recently opened in Gateshead at the Elgin centre, mostly new students so you should fit in.

Thanks for that Geordie I never knew there was such a class on at Elgin Sports Hall. Just checked out the site and it looks pretty good. Might be a bit to tough for me though.:)

I know this is an old thread but I'm interested in kickboxing clubs in Gateshead and maybe someone might know of one that also caters for women? I go to kickboxing now but its more of an exercise class than actually learning to kickbox, which is what I'm interested in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
